What to Bring to Class

  • A yoga, pilates or exercise mat should be used.
Failing that a blanket is okay.

  • Please bring a pillow or cushion to class.

  • If you have a yoga tie and/or block bring that too.

  • Wear loose clothes or tights that enable you to move freely.

  • A blanket for relaxation and water bottle are optional.

Class Guidelines

  • Please be 5-10 minutes early to change and settle in.
This allows us to start and finish on time.

  • students at work
  • Yoga should be done on an empty stomach.

  • Jewellery should be removed for yoga.

  • Always work at your own pace.
This may be different from class to class.
Work gently with your body and listen to your body's needs ahead of the teacher's instructions.
It is fine, even encouraged, to "do your own thing" in class so long as it is not disruptive to others.

  • Near the entrance is a bag of yoga ties, a box of blocks and a bag of eyebags. Please pick up one of each on your way in. Afterwards return items to the appropriate places with the tie neatly folded.

  • Also near the entrance sometimes are complimentary articles and handouts and items for sale such as videos, books, CDs and mats. Please check the area regularly for items of interest to you.

  • Sometimes "assists" are given in class whereby the instructor may touch students. If you do not want to be assisted, please take a red "No Assists Sign" and place it near your mat.

  • On the bulletin board are listings of yoga workshops and retreats in the province for your perusal.

  • Yoga for all
  • If you have extra questions or need additional instruction, please feel free to come a little early or stay after class. For more involved situations, private sessions are available upon request for $50/hour.
A personalized yoga tape can be made for your specific needs.

  • During different stages of pregnancy, different postures and breathing exercises are recommended and/or contraindicated. Please check with the instructor for more information. This is also true for menstruation. In general we avoid Kapala Bhati and Bhastrika (bellows) breathing at these times.

  • If you have un-medicated high blood pressure, avoid poses where the head is lower than the rest of the body.
