Yin Yoga Teacher Training

Week-long course (50 hours) for $900.
($250 deposit required to register & completed intake form)

Open to Yoga Teachers and Long-time Yoga Practitioners

With our “graying” demographic, learn “age appropriate” longer held gentle poses to restore & renew. When one leads a yin yoga class, the students hold for long periods so what does the teacher offer during that time period?



Here’s some ideas which will be included in the training:

  • breathing & meditation techniques

  • chakras & bij mantra

  • yin & meridian theory

  • affirmations

  • hand mudras

  • story telling

  • 8 limbs, yamas & niyamas (yoga philosophy)

  • modifications & assists for different body types & abilities

  • anatomy: muscles & joints affected

Training also includes:



  • benefits & contra-indications

  • basic anatomy

  • assisting yin yoga poses

  • lots of practice teaching in pairs & small groups

  • designing a yin yoga class

  • music suggestions

  • certificate & manual

Trainees must fill out an intake form, provide deposit, purchase “The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga” by Bernie Clark well before the training & complete the full 50-hour course to receive certificate. For yoga teachers certified through the Yoga Alliance, training hours are eligible for continuing education credits.  Trainees must provide own accommodations & food. Hours are 9 to 5 each day with one hour credit for self-study. Trainees will create & teach a 1.25 hour yin yoga class to a fellow student on the last day. Hours can be counted towards Continuing Education Hours with Yoga Alliance for RYTs.

Led by Julie Palmer who has 26 years experience leading yoga since 1993 and over 1000+ hours of training. Her Yin Yoga journey began in 2012 with classes led by Bernie Clark online. In February of 2014 Julie took the Yin YTT with Bernie in Vancouver and immediately began teaching workshops and classes in this slow meditative style, volunteering at her local YMCA in Cornwallis.  At least once or twice a week Julie’s daily personal practice will be more yin-like and she’s added some poses to the yin encyclopedia of poses which she’ll share during the training.

Learn to teach Chair Yoga/Fitness for seniors, those with chronic conditions or post-surgery, even office workers.

Open to yoga & fitness teachers, alternative & traditional health practitioners with yoga experience, those working with elders/seniors & who have yoga experience & those in training for any of these.

Ideas for ways to take yourself (& students) deeper in yoga practice,  using props, to safely and fully support each pose and to be creative and fun. Opportunity to work solo, in pairs and small groups. Certificate of Attendance & Handouts provided.

Open to All Levels. With Julie Palmer, 26 Years Teaching Experience, 1000+ Hours Training.
Hours can be counted towards Continuing Education Hours with Yoga Alliance for RYTs as Julie is YACEP (Continuing Education Provider).
